Withdrawing my application
There are some situations where you may choose to withdraw your application for a WWC Check or cancel your current WWC Card.
When can you withdraw your application for a WWC Check?
You may withdraw your application for a WWC Check at any time before a final decision is made, except where you have been issued an Interim Negative Notice for that application.
To request that your application be withdrawn contact the WWC Screening Unit with the following information:
- name;
- date of birth;
- address;
- phone number;
- application number; and
- confirm/declare that you are no longer engaging in any child-related work.
To email your request click here, include the title 'Withdraw WWC Check application' in the subject line. Alternatively send your request by post to:
Manager Screening and Assessment
WWC Screening Unit
PO Box 1262
West Perth 6872
If you are not prohibited from withdrawing as outlined above, written confirmation of your withdrawal will be sent to you providing information specific to your circumstances. Depending on your particular circumstances, if you intend to commence child-related work in the future you may need to re-apply for a WWC Check before you start any child-related work.
Application fees are not refunded if you decide to withdraw your application.
If you are an employee, volunteer or student, the WWC Screening Unit will also give written notice of the withdrawal of your application to your employer, volunteer organisation or education provider.
Withdrawing your application for a WWC Check also means that you have withdrawn your ongoing consent to the collection, use and disclosure of information about yourself (including criminal records) for the purposes of assessing your eligibility to have a WWC Card. The WWC Screening Unit will make no more requests for information about you if this is the case.
If you have a current WWC Card you can apply to cancel your WWC Card in certain circumstances. For more information about cancelling your WWC Card please click here.
