Monitoring your compliance

As an employer, volunteer organisation or education provider working with children, we recognise your commitment to creating a child-safe environment and your obligation to comply with the WWC Act.

Do you know how well your organisation is complying with them? Complete a WWC Check ‘Health Check’ and find out.

Here are some considerations about your compliance:

• Can you demonstrate that all your employees, volunteers and students who engage in child-related work have applied for a WWC Check or hold a valid WWC Card?
• Do you keep records? Here is a downloadable example of a Record Keeping Spreadsheet. Do you have copies of your employees’, volunteers’ or students’ WWC Cards and/or notifications from the WWC Screening Unit?
• Do you have policies and practices to ensure that any employee, volunteer or student issued with an Interim Negative Notice or Negative Notice does not engage in child-related work?

Why is it important to comply with the WWC Act?

By complying with the WWC Act you are not only abiding by the law but also helping to create a safer environment for children in Western Australia and the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
